Frequently Asked Questions

General Information

It is a multi-sport event that includes swimming, biking, and running. It's designed specifically for children to promote fitness and fun.

Note that USA Triathlon (USAT) determines an athlete's age group for all sanctioned races based

on their age as of December 31st of the race year.

  • 6 & under: 25 yards swim, 0.8 mi bike, 0.5 mi run <-- estimated completion time: 25-30 min
  • 7 & 8: 25 yards swim, 2.2 mi bike, 0.1 mi run <-- estimated completion time: 40-50 min
  • 9 & 10: 50 yards swim, 3.3 mi bike, 1.25 mi run <-- estimated completion time: 45-55 min
  • 11 and above: 100 yards swim, 4.4 mi bike, 1.5 mi run <-- estimated completion time: 55-65 min

The above estimated times assume kids have done some basic preparation but aren't competitive athletes. Faster kids could finish 20-30% quicker, while slower/less experienced kids might take 30-50% longer.

The last day to register is February 27. Kids that sign up after February 18 can still participate but won't get a free t-shirt or a number with their name printed.

The goal of the event is to promote well being and activity while fostering community bonds. There will be participation medals for all athletes.

The event will be held on Sunday, March 8th 2026 at the Texas School for the Deaf campus. Closer to the event we will share a Race Day event guide with specifics on how to access the campus.

The event is open to children aged between 4 and 15. Participants will be grouped by their age on 12/31/26 to align with USA Triathlon standards.

Registration

You can register online through this website. Registration closes on  February 27th.

In order to make it inclusive, there is no registration fee. However, we encourage voluntary contributions as a fundraising event to PTA. Contributions help cover the cost of organizing the event.

The early registration deadline is February 18th. Please make sure to register before this date to secure your child's spot. Signups after 2/18 won’t receive a t-shirt nor a race number with their name.

Event Day

Participants should bring their swimwear, bike, helmet, running shoes, and a water bottle. We also recommend bringing a towel and a change of clothes.

Yes, there will be water stations and healthy snacks available for participants throughout the event.

Parents are welcome to cheer on their children. For children aged 6 and under, parents are allowed to support their children throughout the course. For the swimming portion, parents can help from the outside.

Yes, younger kids can opt to use a noodle for support during the swimming portion.

Safety

Safety is our top priority. On the pool, we will have a team of lifeguards on duty, overseeing the event, and volunteers and medical staff will be present throughout the course to assist if needed.

In the event of bad weather, we will notify participants of any changes or cancellations via email used for registration and our website. Safety is our primary concern.
