During scheduled roof repairs over the summer, significant flooding occurred at the Travis Heights Elementary campus. As a result, our school community is beginning the year at Dawson Elementary while repairs are underway.
The flooding also caused substantial losses for many of our teachers, including classroom materials, supplies, books, and other resources they had collected and built over many years. Teachers are now facing the unexpected cost of repurchasing many of these items while also preparing and setting up classrooms twice—first at Dawson and again at Travis Heights when our campus is ready to reopen.
We are incredibly grateful to the organizations, businesses, and community members who have reached out asking how they can help.
Financial contributions to the Travis Heights Elementary PTA will help support teachers as they replace lost classroom materials and respond to other needs created by the flooding and temporary relocation.
Organizations or businesses interested in making a larger financial contribution, donating goods or services, or coordinating another form of support are encouraged to contact Laura Brennan at lauravcbrennan@gmail.com so we can help direct your contribution where it will be most useful.
Thank you for supporting our teachers, students, and families as we navigate the start of the school year together.
Want to support in other ways? Sign up to volunteer to help with the move to Dawson. Additional slots will be added to the form on a rolling basis.
